We’re hoping to convince you to join the PTA this year.

You don’t need to volunteer

You don’t need to read extra emails

You don’t need to attend meetings (though it’s great if you do— and there are only 3 general meetings all year)

You don’t need to do much at all to be a member

So here’s why you should join.

Strengthen your ability to support and protect your children and all children in our community. As part of a national association, your PTA membership dues fund child advocacy efforts that change policies and laws in our community, our city, our state and on Capitol Hill. On the local level, you are represented by the Somerville Council of PTAs, a powerful voice speaking for robustly funded public education in City policy and budgeting.

Have a voice in decisions that affect you, your child and all children. Our PTA gives you the opportunity to provide feedback on education policies, backed by the collective bargaining power of millions of PTA members nationwide.

Help shape the priorities and benefits of the fundraising we do and the programs we can offer our students.

In many ways, PTAs all over the country fill in the gaps in public education funding. Through volunteerism and fundraising we directly improve and impact our students’ enrichment and sense of joy and wonder. PTA is instrumental in shaping the memorable experiences that keep kids excited to learn, excited to show up, and excited to be an active part of their vibrant school community.
