Somerville Food Resources & Grocery Card Drive

Updated: Nov 10

Does your family need help getting or purchasing food?

Contact our Kennedy Family Liaison, Mrs. Francesca Broekman

fbroekman@k12.somerville.ma.us or 781-915-9679.

Mrs. Broekman can help your family get immediate food assistance such as the grocery cards being donated, and also help with other basic needs like housing and clothing.

School breakfast and lunches are free for all students.

You can send your student in for breakfast starting at 7:30AM every school day.

Want to help fight food insecurity in our community?

Please make monetary donations to the Somerville Council of PTAs' food insecurity fundraiser here.

The Kennedy PTA has closed its own fundraiser in order to streamline district-wide efforts to support Somerville Public Schools families experiencing food insecurity.

Thank you to all who have donated and are continuing to do so!

Physical grocery gift cards in $25 increments — from Market Basket, Stop and Shop, Target, and Dollar Tree — can still be dropped in the lockbox in the Kennedy office, Monday-Friday, 7:45AM - 2:45PM.

You can also drop them off outside of school hours to Kate Van Sleet. Email or text Kate at kalane99@gmail.com / 508-846-3091 to coordinate off-hours drop-offs.

Grocery cards will be distributed across all schools to families who need them.

The Somerville Family Learning Collaborative (SFLC), which is a department within the Somerville Public Schools, is responsible for assessing needs and distributing the cards, through their Family Liaisons at each of the public schools.
