The MTA has been hard at work gathering signatures to end the MCAS graduation requirement in the state. This is a key part of the Thrive Act. The MTA is aiming to collect 130,000 signatures across the state in order to get the question on the ballot in November 2024. Massachusetts is one of eight states that have state standardized testing tied to graduation.
The SEU will be hosting an opportunity to support the signature collection.
Saturday, October 21 (11am - 1pm): Volunteer to help collect signatures in the Winter Hill area of Somerville! This will kick off at 93 Jaques Street, Somerville, MA 02145. Click here to see the invitation and register to help collect signatures!
Training will be provided prior to signature collection and the MTA will be on hand to assist in our efforts. We hope that you will be able to share this message with your PTA membership in hopes of broader engagement of families in these efforts.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
