The Scholastic Book Fair is a student and family favorite every year! Fully run by PTA volunteers, it serves dual purposes as a fundraiser/give-back, where the profits go straight towards purchasing books for our Educators’ class libraries, the school library, and individual students who might not otherwise be able to afford books at the Fair.

We're excited to share our Book Fair landing page, which links to the Book Fair schedule and other helpful information. We will continue to update this landing page as new information becomes available.

Grades 1-6, Life Skills, SEEK and SKIP students attend the fair for 30 minutes with their classes during the school day according to the schedule. PreK and K students attend the fair in a small groups assigned by their teachers. PreK and K teachers will let families know what day your student will attend ahead of time.

7th and 8th grade students will be given the option to shop the Fair in small groups with their teachers' permission during any open hours their teacher allows.

If you can afford to, please plan to send your student with funds on an eWallet (Scholastic’s cashless payment option) or cash. Older students can use tap to pay options on a phone or credit/debit cards.

All students can get a book at the fair regardless of a household's ability to pay for it. Sharing books with the entire school community is central to the mission of the Book Fair!

PTA recommends sending between $10-$25 though Scholastic will suggest more. Typical books cost between $8-$14 and there are also fun school supplies, book marks, posters, and more available at the fair.

*Please remember to get your 2025-2026 CORI form submitted in order to volunteer at the Fair. CORI forms can be processed by the new Kennedy School Volunteer Coordinator, Becky Payne. If you don't have time to get your CORI done in person and you had a CORI filed last school year, Becky can assist you with submitting the CORI via email. Please reach out to her at rpayne@k12.somerville.ma.us
